Kindergarten Readiness Program
HEAR in New Hampshire’s Kindergarten Readiness Program services children from four and a half to six years of age, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM. Students in this program are part of the Kindergarten classroom from 8:30 to 11:30 AM daily. After lunch they remain at HEAR in New Hampshire for additional support and instruction in preparation for the Kindergarten program the following year. The student to teacher ratio is low, giving us the opportunity for daily one-to-one instruction. The classroom staff consists of a Teacher of the Deaf (Auditory-Oral), a Speech/ Language Pathologist and a General Educator. The children receive daily speech, language and listening therapy (individual and small group) both in the classroom and in a quiet setting.
Curriculum
The children who attend the Kindergarten Readiness program at HEAR in New Hampshire are exposed to the same theme based curriculum as the Kindergarten students. Pre-academic skills, speech, language, listening and social interactions are emphasized and further reinforced as part of their extended school day. Field trips are an integral part of our curriculum. These opportunities allow our students to use the listening and speaking skills they learn in the classroom in the larger world in which they live.
